What are your delivery options?
If ordering within NYC, we can have your prints messengered to you, or you can pick up directly from our lower east side studio. We also ship worldwide via FedEx.
What is the turnaround time for an order?
Orders printed on the Polie are typically ready same-day. Larger(>20x30") orders printed on the Light Jet will take 24-48 hours to complete.
I don't see the size I need in the options list. How can I print a custom size?
If you want to print at exact file size, please select the next size up and be sure to leave a message in your order to trim the extra white paper off.
What color profile should I use when preparing my file?
We convert to the printer profile on our end, you can submit any RGB so long as it is embedded in the file. AdobeRGB and sRGB is preferred.
What's the difference between the Polie and the Light Jet printers?
The Polielettronica and the Light Jet are essentially the same technology but on two different scales. The Polie can print up to 20x30" and is an all-in-one workhorse. The paper is exposed and directly connected to the processor where it goes through the traditional darkroom chemicals, wash and dry process. The lightjet is a large drum where the 50" wide paper is exposed by lasers and we manually feed it into the Kreonite processor. For this reason lightjet prints are more labor intensive and take a little bit longer to turn around than the Polie.
What is a digital C print?
A "C print," or a chromogenic print, is a true photographic print, taking the qualities from traditional darkroom prints and combining the speed and convenience of digital technology. We expose light-sensitive photographic paper using digital files and lasers(instead of using a negative/enlarger) and run it through chemistry to get processed.
Can I view my order history?
If you created a login and used that to place orders, you can always check your order history under your account. Unfortunately we do not save uploads. We hope to in future versions of the site but at present you will have to upload again if you would like to duplicate your order.
Why can't I see the progress bar when I upload a file?
For the best experience with our site, please use Google Chrome (recommended), or the latest version of Safari, Firefox, and if you really have to IE 10. But IE is the devil.
What are your hours?
For your convenience we are open Monday-Friday from 9am to 6pm.
Is there a library of images I can browse though to print?
At the moment, we do not offer a library of images on our site. But there are stock image sites such as gettyimages.com that do provide both paid and royalty-free images that you can download to print with us.
